
Code of Conduct
At MC Youth Ski Club, we’re committed to creating a fun, safe, and respectful environment for all participants. All students are expected to follow the rules outlined by the club, our school system (MCPS), and our mountain partners (Liberty, Whitetail, Snowshoe, etc.).The following expectations apply to every trip. Violations may result in removal from the club without refund.
Bus Behavior
Inappropriate behavior on the bus will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal from the club. All students must remain seated, respectful, and follow directions from chaperones and the driver at all times.
Unacceptable behaviors include:

Threatening, abusive, obscene, or violent language, gestures, or behavior

Throwing of anything on the bus/car or out of a bus/car window

No food or snacking in the bus

Refusal to sit properly and remain seated on the bus/car, or refusal to use safety belt (if there is a safety belt in a seat, it must be used)

Vandalism, graffiti, or defacement of the vehicle in any way
-
Any inappropriate use of the on-board bus bathroom
-
Interfering with the driver or the safe operation of the vehicle
-
Drug, alcohol, or tobacco use
-
Sexual activity of any kind
-
Refusal to cooperate with a chaperone's direct request
-
Pranks, practical jokes, use of novelties, etc., that threaten the safety or well-being of self or others, or that create a perception thereof.
Mountain Conduct
All students are expected to follow resort rules and ski or snowboard responsibly. Safety always comes first for yourself and for those around you.
Unacceptable behaviors include:

Skiing or snowboarding alone. Always pair up or join a group at your ability level. If you're unsure who to ride with, connect with a chaperone.

Excluding others from your group. MC Ski Club is a community, and everyone should feel welcome to join in.

Using foul or offensive language, gestures, or behavior toward others.

Throwing snow, gear, or any objects on the slopes, from lifts, or in line.

Skiing or snowboarding recklessly or beyond your skill level.

Ignoring posted signs or trail closures.

Disregarding the Skier/Boarder Responsibility Code.

Violation of the Mountain Code of Conduct while in the ski area

Leaving the immediate vicinity of the lodge and slopes. Shuttle buses and the tubing area "Boulder Ridge" are strictly off limits.

Be courteous to all guests and resort staff. Respect and safety are core to the club experience.
Respect for Others
MC Ski Club promotes a welcoming, inclusive environment.
All members are expected to treat each other and resort staff with respect.
Unacceptable behaviors include:

Excluding others from your group. MC Ski Club is a community, and everyone should feel welcome to join in.

Bullying, teasing, or exclusionary behavior

Sexual harassment or inappropriate physical contact

Use or possession of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco

Refusing to follow a chaperone’s directions
Consequences for Misconduct
Our priority is to keep everyone safe and ensure a positive experience for all students. Any behavior that puts others at risk or violates club or resort rules may result in the following:

Verbal warning from a chaperone or staff member

Loss of skiing privileges for the day

Required to stay with a chaperone for the remainder of the trip

Contacting a parent/guardian
-
Suspension from future trips (no refunds will be issued)
In serious cases, students may be removed from the program entirely. We count on each participant to represent the club with respect, responsibility, and kindness.
In cases of serious behavior issues, illness, or other situations where a student cannot continue the trip, a parent/guardian may be required to pick them up, even mid-day. Please make sure someone is available and reachable during all club events.
